Belize, which is located along the east coast of Central America, has a rich cultural history and natural beauty, including spectacular and varied sites diving. The weather in Belize is hot and humid most of the year, with little variation in temperature, even in winter. Besides the wonderful opportunities for diving, there are plenty of land for tourist activities, such as the Belize Zoo and the temples of the ancient Maya. Many tourists, however, come only to enjoy the many dive sites in Belize.
Experienced divers tend to prefer the challenge of dives adventure, and the Blue Hole of Belize is one of the dives. A blue hole is a cave or pit in which is also known as a vertical cave. The sharp drop means that the center of the hole is a rich dark blue, and the closer you get to the shallow waters around him, lighter than water becomes. Blue holes believed to have formed during the last glaciation, when sea levels were much lower than they are now.
Belize has the largest and arguably the most blue hole impressive in the world, and located near Lighthouse Reef is a diver's paradise. The hole is nearly a perfect circle and more than 1,000 feet (305m) wide and 480 feet (146m) deep.
Curiously, a blue hole does not generate much traffic, what little oxygen reaches the bottom of the hole. As a result, some animals can survive the marine life there, although it appears that bacteria proliferate.
Other celebrities include blue holes on Andros Island, Bahamas Blue Hole and the Egyptian Blue Hole, just north of Dahab. The main islands of the Bahamas have blue holes, but the island of Andros is considered the best of the lot. The Blue Hole of Egypt, in particular, knows it is very dangerous and has claimed the lives of many divers over the years.
Belize also has world-renowned reefs great for snorkeling. The barrier reef large in the northern hemisphere is in Belize. There are mangrove forests, coastal lagoons and estuaries and is surrounded by several marine reserves. The area has been included in the list exclusive UNESCO World Heritage, which is a testament to the beauty found there. The Blue Hole of Belize reefs and only make a great place to go diving.
Several tour operators throughout the world to experience scuba diving in Belize. For serious divers, the only thing to do in Central America is to dive in Belize.
