TV Julia Child's French cuisine became an international star. Although he's gone now, fans are not, and the recipes of Julia still revered by professional chefs. Her recipes are a chronicle of television program "The French Chef Cookbook." Show featured a homemade mayonnaise Julia said she had a problem with the recipe. "Once you've eaten your own that never settle for anything else."

The spread of manufacturing home was a difficult one, according to popular rumor, and Julia did not agree with him. After all, he explained, was only egg yolks, seasonings, olive oil and brought together. Even better, it was to say, you can taste the homemade sauce to suit the food being prepared. Different tastes homemade purchased shop.

The store-bought varieties are controlled by the Food and Drug Administration U.S. (FDA). According to the FDA, the real mayonnaise contains at least 65% of oil by weight, besides the whole eggs or egg yolks, vinegar and spices, except turmeric and saffron, which can be added to suggest the buds extra color. Commercial products may contain preservatives.

Store products contain ingredients that are usually not present at home: corn starch amended (thickener), xanthan gum (another thickener), corn syrup, high fructose, food coloring, sodium benzoate (preservative), and phosphoric acid. The additional ingredients you buy at health food stores stiffer.

Why make your own mayonnaise? You do it for two reasons - freshness and taste. Egg salad, chicken salad and bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches every flavor and a homemade spread. As Julia said, is like a thick sauce.

He went to Julia's recipe, but it was too detailed for me. It begins with washing and drying the bowl, put the bowl on a damp, beating in one direction or two, and says it needs to "understand" egg yolks. I do not think it would never understand egg yolks, so I looked through my cook book collection for other recipes.

"The Cookbook" Good Housekeeping "was a recipe for blender mayonnaise and a second recipe mixer. Since I do not have a blender, the blender foot was the way forward. I changed some ingredients, but the method is the same. For fish dishes, add gherkin or capers. For chicken dishes, add the curry powder or chutney. I use Julia's recipe, but she felt like she must have felt when I tried it my homemade salsa.
You can feel the same when you try this recipe.

Can I use an electric mixer instead of a blender for a smoothie?

It's around 12:36 a.m. here do not want to wake anyone with blender. However my strong, my electric blender is much quieter and I REALLY want a banana shake (only some vanilla, half a banana, milk, ice cubes, the normal matter). Can I use my electric mixer instead of using the Blender? Thank you all.

Unfortunately, darling, you can not use your electric mixer in making his eagerness to shake midnight. Of course, ice cubes, not crushed, as have electric mixers accessories beat, and have leaves like those of the mixers. Better to do than shake yours in the morning instead when everyone is all: D
