I have a couple of books with bright pictures of fresh cakes, including step by step instructions and templates for cake decorating.
Failing that, I was able to track cake several templates for free online.
But recently, I have beaten a road block when it comes to making cakes character: usually no templates or instructions that are to last, the character bigger, more fashionable.
Not wanting to disappoint my fans, I found a way to create a cake template. It takes a small amount of computer knowledge and some patience, but if you are doing and character cakes are likely to have patience and enthusiasm for this sort of thing.
The first step is to locate a simple cartoon character. Avoid the drawings animated with a lot of detail or background image. You want there to be enough detail to make the character recognizable, but not too much to ita's going to be confusing when you enlarge the image.
You can find this picture in a coloring book, but you have to explore it. Alternatively, try an online search for character and see what you can find from there.
The next step is to decide what size cake is working. Now, you need to blow the caricature that is working to match the size of the cake.
If you are doing this digitally, you can do it a Word file. Just set the page size to the size of the cake, then paste the image (Note: Â-there are probably several graphics programs you can do this, so I know Dona't.)
If you are working low-fidelity, you can take your picture to the local copier and resize.
Now, print your image!
Place your image on your cake cooled, and toothpicks to push through image and transfer the design onto the cake. Cut around the sides and decorate your heart's content!
A decorating tip small: I have found that using UPS fruit roll fruit and chains works wonders, instead of piping in a formation of ice-ita fast, looks good, and hey, ita almost healthy;)

Can I do this with an edible cake image?
My son's birthday is next month and I saw a picture of cake they want to put in it. There is only four left, if for him, I can keep in a refrigerator or something until I need it? I've never used one. Also, the instructions say to put it in a freshly iced cake. Can I put in a cake that I get from a bakery?
Good questions. I ordered the cake edible image of a company before and made sure that "for best results use within 2 weeks, but the image of the cake will last up to 2 months. So should be well with the schedule you are watching. In terms of setting a new ice cream cake, they are correct. If the icing has already established or "scab" the image does not stick. Also, make sure the ice does not have any surface moisture, or image bleed. I hope that helps, and happy birthday to you son!
