If you are thinking of getting a water filter counter, then you probably have not been paying attention to the news. It was only a few months ago that another study was conducted in a major water system of America that prescription drugs found in water. This is not the first time this has happened. Pesticides are routinely water systems in America. So they are a world of other chemicals extremely sophisticated and powerful. In other words, if you are at all concerned about your health and your family, you absolutely need a countertop water filter.

Let's assume you're convinced of the need for a countertop water filter. Now all you have to worry about is what type of purchase.

There should be no more than twenty manufacturers of water filters that are small enough to be considered "counter". But identifying the differences between manufacturers is not what you need to do first. The first thing to do is decide what type of water filter for countertop. By this I mean, what kind of technology you want to buy?

There are basically four types of technology if it comes to water filtration, reverse osmosis, distillation, ultraviolet and carbon / ceramic filtration. Some water filters use more than one of these methods in tandem, others are only based on a method. Each has its drawbacks and strengths.

Not many years ago the most popular method of water was counter reverse osmosis filter. Reverse osmosis works by pushing water through a membrane. The membrane capture of pollutants, and clean water passes through. Reverse osmosis works really well. The drawback is that it is a waste. A water filter that operates through reverse osmosis countertop will only be able of filter about half the water that enters it. The rest goes down the drain. The water bill is not too good for you!

Distillation is considered by many as the gold standard of water filtration. Although there are some stills that are small enough to be considered a water filter countertop, distillers usually take more space. Distillers have more parts than the other methods, so there is more to break. Distillers use more energy to extract water, because have to heat the water to the point of vaporization. Finally, the distillers have up to ten times more expensive to buy than the other methods.

The water exposure to ultraviolet light is a great method, but only if you want to remove the water of life for pollutants such as protozoa and other animals and plants. Light UV does nothing for inorganic contaminants. Thus, the majority of ultraviolet filters, have another type of filter in tandem.

Finally, counter top water filter that is the right most popular uses of carbon / ceramic water filter cartridges. These types of water filters are easy to use and maintain. They are cheaper to buy some of the other. Carbon / ceramic filters can filter out organic and inorganic material. They can obtain chlorine from your water. And, although you have to replace the cartridges, the latter up to a year or more.

How can I remove a huge hard water stain on laminate countertop?

I have a dark gray / marble effect laminate countertop in my kitchen. We the mistake of putting our dish rack in it without anything underneath to catch the water and now the whole side of the counter by the sink is whitish calcium and other deposits minerals. We've tried everything (cleaning products, Cal-A-Way, all types of calcium, the removal of products, etc.). We do not want to scrub too much for fear of scratching the surface and making it worse. Is there a safe way to remove hard water stain?
