How do you cook bacon in electric skillet?

Today I tried to cook bacon in my electric skillet. I've done it once before cooked on a gas stove. Let's say that my children would not eat, because it was too crunchy and leave it at that. I cook very well, but I do not like bacon, so never a priority to learn the bacon. My husband and children love going to my in-laws and I have not seen much, I'll have to learn. I can cook on low ... What electric skillet temperature is low enough. I was at 300, I guess that is high. Also about how long? What should the bacon look or feel like when you? Is there a color or texture trick? Also, what is the best bacon to buy? I just have to many questions, and do not know where start ...
