I have no coffee exsact but most adjustments are on time and heat. I guess the 1.4 option cup is made so that water is a little less warmer and the heating pad is also somewhat least hotter than it used to dry it all up compared to a cup of 8 / regular cycle. cycle could be hotter flavor to exstrac flavor. As I said but I'm guessing that's what makes sense to me. If you have a tea setting I know for sure that is brewed at a lower temperature cause tea is better before the boiling point or bitter.
