Kitchen Cooking

Hey kids, when most people hear the word "chemistry", they think of the creepy laboratory with bubbling glasses of toxic waste. However, chemistry can occur any time two different things react together to make something new, and there are science experiments fun you can do good in the kitchen!
Experiment 1: The Magic of Mud
Everything you need for this experiment is a corn starch, water and a little dye food to show it off.
1. Add 5 tablespoons of cornstarch in a bowl. Make sure you use something to scrape the extra starch to have a nice level spoon.
2. Add 3 tablespoons of water in the container.
3. Add 3 drops of food coloring.
4. Stir the mixture.
This mixture should be difficult to remove unless you stir very, very slowly. If it seems runny, add a little more cornstarch. If it seems too dry, add water a little more.
Now try to push a bit of magic mud between your toes and rolling it into a ball. Then open your hand and see what happens. Poke the top of magic mud quickly, and bounce off his finger. But if you sink your finger slowly, the mud will swallow it! It acts as a liquid and solid!
For a real adventure, try using the same measures (5 parts of corn starch, 3 parts water) to make a lot very large in a large saucepan, or even a swimming pool for children! If you run fast enough, you can run on top of clay magic. But do not delay, sink or be found in the goo!
Experiment 2: The Incredible giant hand
For this experiment, you will need baking soda, vinegar, and a rubber glove. If you do not have one, you can use a balloon to make the big head Incredible.
1. Use a marker to draw the hair on the rubber glove (or a face on the globe).
2. Carefully add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the glove.
3. Pour some vinegar into the glove.
4. Tie the glove closed, like a balloon. Shake it around a bit.
Now see what happens. The hand (or head) grow!
When baking Solid sodium and fluid are vinegar react to form a gas called carbon dioxide.
They do much of what is going to blow up the balloon to you.
Experiment 3: acid or alkali
For this experiment, you need some beets or red cabbage. It offers you a tasty snack.
1. Have an adult help you boil the cabbage and beets until the water changes color.
2. Collect some of the colored water.
Scientists use something called pH indicator to measure how acid or alkaline something is. The various acids and alkalis will cause the indicator to change colors.
You pH indicator fact alone. For an adult to help you test small amounts of water colored with acids and alkalis in the house. Vinegar, juice, cleaning products, tablets antacids, and baking soda are good places to start.
The more acid, the lower the pH number. See if you can calculate the pH of the subjects test:
pH color
2 red (very acidic)
4 Purple
6 violet
8 blue
10 Blue-green
12 yellow-green (very alkaline)
And the best part of this experiment is that you can eat the vegetables that are cooked! Now that science is fun!

Why is that when you're in the kitchen?
Why is that when you're in the kitchen and your partner enters you want to "prove" the food? I can not stand. I've cooked in a multitude of restaurants and is a no-no to "prove" the food with fingers. I got very angry about this and when he did wacked me the finger and he got mad and said f *** B ****!!! Jeeez! Guys - people should have respect for that. Furthermore, no respect for washing hands or to spit in the food preparation sink. This is totally unacceptable to me. Wait until the food is ready, and then - just eat. I assure - I'm a hell of a good cook. He got hurt 2 years ago and can not smell or taste anything. You need to stay out of my kitchen until you are ready.
omg i agree with you both. all the time when people cook im put on me and try to taste the food. it drives me crazy! i dont want to look like an idiot and yell and than simply saying "cannot wait until your list be patient!" and spits it out ..... damn cannot go to the bathroom or something ????? i hate I love my people in the kitchen my property without disrespect. What really bothers me is when the kitchen instant messaging and people (eg, mother) will come in the test and my food and tell me that I must add this or your child like that. aaaggggghhhhh! I think some people get just help yourself to everything and anything in life.
